Silicon calcium

Calcium silicon is a ferroalloy which is approximately 30% calcium and 60% silicon and is primarily used for removing gases and nonme – tallic inclusions in the iron smelting process.

1.Calcium and silicon have a strong affinity for oxygen. Calcium, in particular, has a strong affinity not only for oxygen but also for sulphur and nitrogen. Therefore, calcium silicon are an ideal compound deoxidiser and desulphuriser.

2.Calcium silicon not only has the ability to deoxidise, but also floats and discharges easily, improving the properties of steel and increasing its plasticity, impact toughness and fluidity.

3.Calcium silicon can be used in place of aluminium for final deoxidation. It has been used in the production of high quality steels, special steels and special alloys. For example, special alloys such as steel rails, mild steel, stainless steel and other nickel-based alloys, titanium alloys and other special alloys can be used as deoxidising agents for calcium oxide alloy.
